Chants of Maldoror was an influential Italian deathrock band formed in 1994 in Bologna. Named after the surrealist novel Les Chants de Maldoror by Comte de Lautréamont, the band quickly earned a reputation for their theatrical performances, haunting melodies, and raw, dramatic sound rooted in post-punk tradition.

Emerging from the underground Italian goth scene, Chants of Maldoror blended elements of early Bauhaus and Christian Death with cabaret-like vocals, distorted guitars, and eerie atmospheres. Their debut album, Thy Hurting Heaven, released in 2000, became a cult favorite among darkwave and goth rock enthusiasts.

Over the years, they have played alongside iconic acts like Rozz Williams, Cinema Strange, and Clan of Xymox, leaving an indelible mark on the European goth and deathrock circuit.
